In 2021, I worked on developing the interest badges feature, which aimed to encourage users to consider non-superficial traits when finding a match. The goal was to increase the percentage of matches per user by helping users with similar interests connect more easily. The interest badges feature is now used by over 60% of Bumble’s user base and has paved the way for improving the suggestions engine with more personalised traits.
